The Conceptual Design Research Studio (CoDeRS) is a multidisciplinary network of critical social scientists working at the intersection of health, equity, and social justice. Based within the College of Community and Global Health at the University of Manitoba’s Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, our collective brings together scholars embedded in the practical worlds of health service delivery, health systems, and policy development.

We are researchers, educators, and advocates who challenge dominant approaches to knowledge production. Our work is grounded in culturally responsive, equity-driven, and decolonial research practices that aim to transform how health research is done—and for whom.

Through collaborative projects, responsive publications, and thoughtful engagement with communities and institutions, we push for a more just and inclusive future in health research and policy.

Critical, reflexive, and
grounded social science in health.

Our Vision

We imagine a future where:

Research is co-created, shared, and
accessible—led by those most impacted.

Marginalized and stigmatized communities are not
only included but are recognized as knowledge-holders
and co-creators in research.

Critical approaches in social science are respected, supported, and funded.

Health systems, services, and policies are transformed through equity-based, reflexive, and culturally responsive research.
